Environment and Conservation Fund: Community Ocean Litter Obliteration and Education Programme (CO-OP)

Funded by the Environment and Conservation Fund and organised by the Sea Education Association, this two-year programme consists of two phases. Through ambassador training, school and community beach clean-ups, we educate people of different ages and backgrounds on local marine ecology and coastal habitats, while directly engaging them in marine conservation efforts.

Seeing The Unseen – Wetland Plankton Education Programme

“Seeing the Unseen – Wetland Plankton Education Programme (見微知著- 濕地浮遊生物教育計劃)” is a 20-month education programme organised by Sea Education Association Limited, funded by Castle Peak Power Company Limited, The Hongkong Electric Company, Limited and Hong Kong LNG Terminal Limited (HKLTL) under Marine Conservation Enhancement Fund (Education and Ecotourism).

This Funded Project aims to raise the public awareness and appreciation of the local wetland plankton community through Education and Public Engagement Programmes for students ranging from university, secondary and primary cohorts and the general public. In addition to environmental education, this project also invites local artists to provide art displays to bring the tiny but essential planktons to the daily lives of Hong Kong.

ECF: Hong Kong Intertidal Safari

ECF: Hong Kong Intertidal Safari – An Online Travel Companion For Everyone on Intertidal Excursion

To make local intertidal excursions more accessible, this project “ECF: Hong Kong Intertidal Safari – An Online Travel Companion For Everyone on Intertidal Excursion” is designed to develop and launch a bilingual digital intertidal travel-guide which is comprised of 100 common intertidal species, infographic maps of the common intertidal shores, guides to explore in mangrove, rocky shore, mudflat and sandy beach and trivia quizzes all in the format of a user-friendly and widely accessible website with guided tours in the actual intertidal environment.

This project aims to foster public awareness of the importance of the intertidal environment of Hong Kong and to empower the general public to explore the intertidal shores through development of an online intertidal travel-guide, workshops and guided tours.
